Built in 1790 and located in the downtown historic district, the Cuthbert House overlooks the Beaufort Bay. (see the photo of the bay)

The house served the Cuthbert family until captured durning the Civil War by the Union forces in November 1861. The Cuthbert House is listed in the National Register of Historic Places, and has been fully restored.
